Gaggia Cubika 74511 Espresso Coffee Maker

Gaggia Cubika 74511 Espresso Coffee Maker

Gaggia is the best known Italian manufacturer of coffee machines for professional and household use and its name is synonymous with tradition and reliability the world over. The company was set up in 1947 by Achille Gaggia, the man to whom we are indebted for the success of espresso coffee all over the world. It was he who on September 5th 1938 filed a patent no 365726 with which modern steam-free coffee machines may be said to have been born. In 1977 Gaggia began producing coffee machines for the home, launching the Baby Gaggia, which to this day is considered to be the ideal family coffee maker. The designs and technological advances have changed the way the machines look and work but the objective of quality, reliability and the passion for the right espresso every time has remained throughout Gaggia’s history and this is what makes Gaggia legendary. The Gaggia Cubika has a traditional frother for making capuccinos and lattes. The 15 bar pump pressure ensures good cream on your espressos. The machine can be used with ground coffee or pods.

The design objective of the Gagged Cubika was to accommodate as many features of a top of the range machine in a small home model capable of satisfying the needs of a wide audience. With a neat brushed stainless steel casing, large cup warmer and built with traditional Gagged technology it is capable of making a perfect espresso using ground coffee or easy serving espresso pods. Cubika can even make perfect tea using our steam tea method.

Gaggia Cubika 74511 Espresso Coffee Maker Reviews

5 Reviews of the Gaggia Cubika 74511 Espresso Coffee Maker

  1. Nephron Jerome (London) Said,

    Fantastic

I have just received this machine as a present (purchased from Amazon), I was desperately hoping it would live up to my expectations.

I am delighted to say that it does. After several attempts I have managed to produce the result I have been looking for in a coffee machine. The steamer was a little tough to start with but a couple of tries later and it’s easy as it looks when you see people do it in Starbucks.

As I believe a couple of others have said in reviews of this machine and other similar models; it pays to let the machine warm up before use to avoid a not so hot drink, that’s no problem though as this only takes 5 or so minutes.

    In brief:

    1) Quick and easy to use
    2) Great results even on your first attempt
    3) Looks great
    4) Nice and sturdy
    5) I never have to drink rubbish instant coffee ever again.

Buy one, you will not regret it!

  2. Cristian Salbaticu "tzytzy" (Bolton, UK) Said,

    Absolutely brilliant,

I just bought it and it’s absolutely brilliant. It is very straightforward to use, it has only three buttons, one for on/off, one for espresso and another one for steam, so it’s pretty idiot proof to use.
As long as you use espresso coffee, it makes a great espresso. The milk froth is pretty good as well, but it takes a few tries to learn how to do it properly.
It’s high quality stailless steel all over, no plastic apart from the water compartment. A bit noisy, but I think all are the same. The upper tray is great too, because you can store your mugs on top and it looks posh.
    I would definitely recommend it.
    Happy espresso-ing !!!!

    Very Nice espresso maker!

This is our office machine, i also have a similar machine from Breil at home, costing a bit more. But i’d have to say the Gaggia works better. Haven’t had any problems with it, since we were new to an espresso maker, it took a few days to learn to operate it right. After that, perfect tasting coffee in the office every day! Very good set of accessories too…

    Brilliant Machine

Bought this for my girlfriend as a birthday present. Very easy to use and set up, in fact we had our first cup of coffee five minutes after plugging the machine in.

So far we have had no problems. I would highly recommend, a great machine at a reasonable price.

  5. Bingo (London) Said,

Great coffee, but have a screwdriver handy

I can see why a lot of people have suffered reliability problems: despite the quality name, this is Gaggia’s cheapest espresso machine, and the low cost shows in the construction and materials.

But there is no question that, when you figure out how, the machine is capable of making top class coffee. I say figure it out because it took me a good 6 months of trying various combinations to get the thing right, but it’s well worth the persistence.

I’ve now had mine about 3 years and, fortunately, nothing serious has gone wrong. But I have had to strip it down a couple of times, and proper cleaning and maintenance does involve some light screwdriver use.

But overall, it’s nothing to worry about. The cheap construction makes it very easy to do minor repairs, even for someone like me who isn’t in the habit of stripping down kitchen appliances. And the coffee it eventually produces is well worth the effort.

    Pros:
    1. Top brand at a low price
    2. Excellent coffee
    3. Simple construction makes for easy maintenance

    Cons:
    1. Low quality materials and construction
    2. Best coffee requires skill and practice
    3. Regular care and light maintenance is needed
